October 2009 Pet of the Month Winner This is Lucy Moonshine. Talented? Not necessarily. Blessed? Absolutely!!!! In many ways!!! You see, Lucy and her puppies ended up at our local dog control.

She was actually about to be euthanized after homes were found for her puppies. So a gentleman decided to take her home and use her as a hunting dog since he thought naturally a Redbone Coonhound/Bloodhound mix would make a great hunting dog. Well, Lucy wasn't a good hunter. So she ended up chained to a tree out by his barn. And that is where Lucy spent her days, and her nights. Fortunately for Lucy, a relative reported the abuse to a rescue agency that dealt with this type of abuse. However the gentleman would not surrender Lucy. The rescue agency did not give and contacted a rescue shelter. An attempt to talk her owner into surrendering her by the second rescue shelter turned out successful! Within a couple of weeks Lucy was posted on Petfinder.com and we were the blessed family to adopt her. As you can see by her picture, Lucy will never spend another cold snowy winter outside. She is treated like a princess in our house and will spend the rest of her days living life being loved by her forever family!!! Lucy isn't just a pet of the month; she is the pet of our life!!!!!!
