I too have to agree with the previous reviews and state that this cat door is very difficult to install. It took two of us to install it, but once it is in it works well. The flap hasn't cracked or broken for us yet, although it's only been approximately 6 months. However, the reason why I visited the site was to purchase two additional red locking pegs as both of ours broke! We didn't turn them with any force or anything other than normal turning, but both have broken off from the inside and we cannot live without sometimes locking the kitties to out only (into their own personal mud room). I am unable to locate these pieces on the site (just replacement flaps), so that is a little frustrating. Overall this is a great cat door once it's installed. Our 4 rather chubby felines fit through the door perfectly, and our more petite cat fits through great too (although we did have to take the magnet off so that she could nudge the door open). I do wish the door flap would take a little more wear and tear than it does; it's gotten scratched and scuffed to the point that we cannot see through it anymore. Still not a bad choice and a very good price (purchased at Lowes in late August 2010). I would recommend this to a friend or buy the same item as a replacement, but I would warn the friend that installing can be a headache.

I agree completely with Mr. Hourcle review! It was the most difficult pet door ever. I bought it because I needed a "big cat" door for my really big cat. I have had it for a little over a year and now the flap has a crack in it. I have been trying to find a replacement flap, but to no avail!

I found this cat door extremely frustrating to install. When you are ready to actually screw everything in place, you need to align both covers, the "tunnel" and these plastic rims that hold the tunnel to the cover. Unfortunately, the plastic rims do not snap onto the covers, so they shift, and the tunnel will snap to the rim, but not on the side that you had to trim. So it takes a lot of juggling to get things to align. After taping the pieces together, I finally got everything aligned so I could install the door, and discovered that I had not trimmed enough off of the tunnel, so when I tighten the screws, the plastic of the inside cover flexes and the door jams. Loosening the screws allows it to work, but I am a bit unhappy about the cat door rotating in the hole since the tunnel was too long. But I do not want to go through installing this again, so I am just going to live with it. Although sized for a smaller cat, the Petsafe/ Staywell 400 Magnetic Cat door is much easier to install.
